Chief Investigator Hilde Reikrås works in the Western Police District in Bergen, Norway. While working on a case, Hilde Reikrås saw a larger network of perpetrators of child sexual abuse online. She started the project Operation Dark Room in January 2016. She is now leading an interdisciplinary team working on new methods for identifying both victims of child sexual abuse online, and perpetrators of these crimes.
Operation Dark Room became public in November 2016, and the results of the investigation have become a powerful wake up-call in Norway and many other contries in the world. By publishing information about the investigation, Operation Dark Room gave people insight into a world many did not know much about. Operation Dark Room is now the largest investigation ever of child sexual abuse in Norway.
Chief Investigator Hilde Reikrås has worked in the Norwegian police for 15 years, the last 5 years as Chief Investigator. She is specialized in homicide, violent crime against infants, child deaths and child sexual abouse. She has received honors in Norway to have started Operation Dark Room, and for putting child sexual abuse on the agenda.
